Once again, Apple is offering one lucky winner a $10,000 iTunes gift card for simply downloading an iOS app. Of course timing will determine who wins, with the 25 billionth app marking the winner and another milestone in the 3.5 year history of the App Store.
Apple ran a similar contest when the App Store hit 10 billion downloads in January of last year. As of this writing there are less than 700 million apps remaining to be downloaded according to the Apple contest page.
One thing is for certain, $10,000 will purchase a whole lot of iPhone apps, music and other content. Each entrant is permitted 25 entries per day, and you can even call a special phone number to enter the contest in the US and Canada.
There is also an alternate entry form which can be submitted via the web instead of downloading an app. Apple explains:
The downloading of the 25 billionth app is considered to be either the downloading of the 25 billionth app from the App Store or the receipt of the non-purchase entry after the download of the 24,999,999,999th app, whichever comes first.Here's Apple's announcement:
