How can I get GNU core utilities on my iPhone / iOS?

Looking for some UNIX shell utilities? iOS does not include many of the command line power tools that most Linux and UNIX users are used to taking advantage of when connected via terminal. Although you can SSH into the iPhone, once there the command selection is limited.

To get more out of the command line, the GNU core utilities must be installed using Cydia. Find the package under Sections -> Utilities -> Core Utilities, or use the Search function to find Core Utilities. Once installed, command line access when using SSH into iOS, or when using a terminal app locally on the iOS device will be improved.
