Apple does not accept unsolicited submissions of photographs or films to be considered for the Apple World Gallery. Instead, the Apple marketing team seeks out images and videos then contacts the photographer.
Photographers with popular pictures shared on sites such as flickr or 500px might receive an email directly from Apple when they are seeking new content. See this story from Brendan Ó. explaining how his photo made it onto billboards around the world as part of the Shot on iPhone 6 campaign.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I
found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and
screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
