MobileMe subscribers can now navigate to an improved landing page at me.com from their iPhones. Apple has added more functionality to what once was just an instructional page.
Although the mobile browser version is improved, for complete features such as adjusting MobileMe account settings users will still have to access me.com from a computer web browser. iPhone apps such as MobileMe iDisk and MobileMe Gallery still provide more options than the iPhone version of me.com.
The most useful change is a link to use Find My iPhone. Although your iPhone will be lost when you need this feature, now you can find your iPhone from a friend's iPhone or iPod Touch.
According to Apple, accessing the me.com homepage from an iPhone or iPod Touch now provides the following options:
- A link to setup instructions for setting up Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Find my iPhone on your iPhone/iPod touch.- A link to use Find My iPhone from a friend's iPhone/iPod touch if you need to locate your lost iPhone/iPod on a map, display a message, play a sound, or remotely lock or wipe it.
- A link to download the iDisk app on the App Store.
- A link to download the Gallery app on the App Store.
MobileMe is a subscription service that syncs your iPhone, Mac, and PC automatically. The service also includes Find My iPhone, Gallery, and iDisk. MobileMe is available from Apple for $99 a year.
