iOS App of the Week: Street Fighter IV Champion Edition

Street Fighter IV Champion Edition

Capcom has released several Street Fighter titles to the App Store with different degrees of success, however most haven't aged well. Popular titles like Street Fighter IV Volt quickly became obsolete as Apple devices advanced in technology and size, while Street Fighter X Tekken never really got off the ground. Older titles, such as the Street Fighter II Collection, are still out there, but until this week there has been no definitive Street Fighter title available for newer iOS devices.

iOS App of the Week: Last Day on Earth

Last Day on Earth

Last Day on Earth unforgivably tosses you in to the world without any shelter, tutorial or restart button. You will have to quickly learn how to survive by scavenging for sticks and rocks before zombies, starving wolves and other players kill you.

The new survival game from developer Andrey Pryakhin is a lot like Don't Starve where you need to scavenge and craft items to stay alive. The goal of the game is to build a home base to protect yourself from zombie hoards and other players looking to steal your supplies. You will die many times, and in the process lose everything you worked so hard to create. This is not only very frustrating, but it is what makes the game very addicting. There's a lot of trial and error involved, and you will make a lot of mistakes, but it's all worth it when you finally craft a large item, such as a shower.

iOS App of the Week: Pokémon Magikarp Jump

Pokémon Magikarp Jump

The Pokémon Company has launched another iOS game, hot on the heels of its successful release of Pokémon GO across the globe. Magikarp Jump features one of the most lowly, pathetic and useless Pokémon ever created. Incredibly, the entire game is all about raising the weak Magikarp into a truly majestic creature. Popular Pokémon such as Piplup and Pikachu will even appear to help your special Magikarp grow.

iOS App of the Week: Finger Spinner

Finger Spinner iOS

Finger Spinner has rocketed to the top of the free App Store charts, bumping YouTube from the number one slot. The concept of the game is simple: swipe to spin the spinner, which is based on the real-life fidget spinners that are taking over schools and workplaces around the globe. Each spin earns coins, which can be used to upgrade the maximum speed or grease the wheels to extend the spin for a longer time.

iOS App of the Week: Chroma Squad

Bandai Namco has released Chroma Squad for iOS, based on five stunt actors who decide to quit their jobs and start their own Power Rangers-inspired TV show. While the title may not inspire fans in the same manner as the recently launched Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, Chroma Squad offers a unique perspective on the Super Sentai heroes. Anyone who enjoys retro flavor in their mobile games will appreciate the low-res graphics and chiptune soundtrack.
