You don't need to be a photography expert to know that camera shake can ruin a photo. Avoiding camera shake can be difficult, whether trying to capture intricate detail in artwork or simply trying to capture an image of text that isn't too blurry to read later. The iPhone is small enough and light enough that just a slight push on the volume button or even the virtual shutter button can ruin a photo. The new jailbreak tweak ProximityCam, from developer PoomSmart, offers a practical solution to the problem.

ProximityCam allows you to use the iPhone's proximity sensor (the sensor that turns the screen off when you hold it up to your ear in order to save power and avoid inadvertent input) to take photographs. With ProximityCam installed you simply wave your finger in front of the sensor to take a picture with the Camera app. This

Even though the addition of the front-facing camera on most smartphones has eliminated the "selfie arm," there is another way to snap the perfect self portrait using your iPhone's headphones.

To take a picture using your headphones, just aim your phone and push the + button on the your Apple earbuds remote while the camera app is open. You can also use the play/pause button in the middle of the remote to start and stop recording video when in video mode. Of course your headphones will need to be plugged into your device for this trick to work.

Accessory maker Olloclip has launched a new "4-in-One" lens system for the iPhone and iPod. The 4-In-One Olloclip includes a pocket-sized fisheye lens, wide-angle lens and 2 macro lenses which attach to your iPhone or iPod touch's camera. The entire "quick-connect lens solution" weighs less than an ounce, and supports the existing Olloclip iOS app.

Camera360 has teamed up with Sony to support the Cyber-shot QX10 and QX100. The Sony QX10 and QX100 are Wi-Fi lens cameras that improve your smarphone's picture taking abilities by mounting directly to your device. The Camera360 app will become the first photography software to be customized for the new smartphone lens cameras.

The three most popular cameras on Flickr are iSight cameras, equipped on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5. Apple looks poised to hold onto this position for some time, with the iPhone 5s incorporating several advances to make iSight camera picture quality even better than before.

While the image sensor retains the same 8 megapixel resolution as its predecessor, the iPhone 5s sensor is 15 percent larger in size. With a redesigned 5-element lens, larger pixels (1.5 microns) and a wider aperture at f/2.2 the new camera is 33 percent more sensitive to light. This all means better images can be captured in low light situations.
