The iPhone 4 outsold every previous Verizon smartphone launch to date, all in the first two hours. In fact, Verizon sold out the entire inventory it set aside for existing customers in just 17 hours. The number of units sold has not been released by the company, however they have stopped taking pre-orders and are recommending that interested customers order the iPhone 4 online February 9 starting at 3:01 AM EST.

On February 10, 2011 Verizon Wireless stores will open at 7:00 AM to accommodate the official in-store release day. Verizon offered the early pre-order to existing customers only and has asked employees to wait on getting an iPhone 4 until initial customer demand is fulfilled. Verizon joins the Apple store, Best Buy and selected Wal-Mart stores in offering the CDMA iPhone 4.

For those who aren't interested in ordering the Verizon iPhone 4 online, there's now a third location where you can wait in line and squabble over limited inventory. Best Buy has added its name to the list of retailers who will carry the Verizon iPhone 4 starting on launch day.

The third-party retailer joins the ranks of the Apple Store and Verizon Wireless in offering the CDMA iPhone 4 on February 10, 2011. Although it was rumored that Best Buy training materials hyped AT&T's network speeds as superior, company spokespeople have stated that the company has no interest in pushing one carrier over another. Best Buy intends to be neutral and offer consumers the best mobile phone for their individual situation and preferences.

Apple's iOS App Store just keeps getting bigger. The unstoppable torrent of mobile apps available via iTunes has soared to more than 350,000 titles, with 60,000 of these specific to the iPad. Apps are divided amongst 20 different categories and available for download in 90 countries worldwide.

The App Store just surpassed 10 billion individual software downloads since its initial launch in July 2008. In fact, this amounts to a whopping 18 million average downloads every day the App Store has been in operation. Assuming there are roughly 160 million iOS users, each iPhone, iPad or iPod touch owner has acquired an average of 62 apps for their device.

Leaked screenshots of Best Buy inventory listings indicate that the long-awaited white iPhone 4 could finally be making its way to consumers. The images show 16 and 32 GB white iPhone 4 models with in-stock dates of February 27, 2011.

SKU and model numbers on the listings match those previously used by Best Buy when it was taking pre-orders for the white iPhone 4. Apple then scuttled the white model launch amid production difficulties.

Here's the scoop from Verizon's special event in NYC: a CDMA-compatible version of the Apple iPhone 4 is coming to Verizon Wireless and Apple stores on February 10, 2011. Pre-ordering for existing customers will commence on February 3, 2011. Subsidized prices with a two-year service agreement will run $199 for the 16GB iPhone 4 and $299 for the 32GB model.

The Verizon iPhone 4 has a redesigned antenna, which is a CDMA optimization. Verizon employees will start getting the iPhone 4 this week, and Verizon has been working on scaling up its systems to prepare for a flood of data demand.
