AAPL News Recap 4/13 - 4/20

AAPL shares value had a relatively uneventful week last week, opening at $521.68 on Monday 4/14 and closing at $524.99 on Friday. This week should be more eventful since Apple will be releasing its Q2 FY 2014 earnings report at 5 PM Eastern this coming Wednesday, 4/23. Google Glass to Display iOS Text Messages

After offering Glass to the general public for $1,500 during a one-day online sale, Google has announced that it will be rolling out a new update to its wearable device. The upgrade will add the ability to display iOS text messages on Glass, but "due to some limitations," users will not be able use Glass to respond to any iOS messages. Glass users will be able to enable the new SMS for iPhone feature by navigating to their Bluetooth settings and turning on “Show Notifications”.

Google is also adding a new Calendar Glassware tab in MyGlass, which will allow users the ability to see their agenda on their home screen. Users will also be able to tap a calendar card to change the title, time and location. Both new Glass features will be available in the "next few days," according to the official Google+ announcement.

No huge news this past week, but a few interesting rumors about the next generation iPhone and iPad...

Although there have already been a thousand of them, a new iPhone 6 mockup surfaced this week, and it appears to incorporate all the latest believable rumors, including a repositioned sleep/wake button.

iOS 8 Home Screen Leaks: TextEdit, Watch Utility and More

Already in testing, iOS 8 has been spotted again, this time installed on an iPhone 5s. Home screen icons have not been significantly redesigned, however several new apps have been added by Apple. Healthbook, TextEdit, and Preview apps were previously leaked on a Chinese forum and confirmed as authentic by 9to5Mac sources. However, the icons for these apps were from OS X and had not yet been redesigned for iOS.

The latest leaks have been compiled by PhoneArena, showing what appears to be a more refined version. Not only this, but a stand-alone iTunes Radio app already rumored to be in development can be seen on the screenshot below. While these icons on the iOS 8 home screen don't come as a major surprise, a so-called Watch Utility app has appeared for the first time.
