When it comes to Halloween games on the iPhone and iPad everyone has played Angry Birds Seasons and Plants vs. Zombies. Rest assured there are plenty of options that are much more scary to get you in the holiday spirit. Several titles are not only creepy, but you'll be fighting for survival surrounded by blood, gore and monsters.

These mobile games take advantage of the touch screen and powerful graphics on iOS devices to deliver an in-depth experience. Here's an alphabetical list of the top 13 scary iOS games for Halloween. Make sure you play these games at night with headphones and turn off the lights.

Pretty soon Google's and Apple's voice assistants will come to blows. The Google Search app for iOS has been updated with major improvements for iPhone users including improved voice search. The update proves that Siri might be getting a run for her money sooner rather than later.

Google Search is available for free on the App Store. Not only does the latest version understand natural language queries, but the app will read back results when they are found. The entire experience is of course powered by Google's unrivaled search engine.

Striiv has launched a new wearable Play Smart Pedometer which works with the free Striiv iPhone fitness app. The Striiv Play Pedometer uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to your iDevice to help you easily keep track of your fitness activities wirelessly. Its built-in rechargeable Lithium ION battery allows for up to one week of usage on a single charge, and its nickel-plated clip fastens to any workout gear or clothes.

The Striiv Play plus app allows users to measure their activities like walking and running, play games and share their achievements with friends via Facebook and Twitter.

The Apple Store isn't the first place that comes to mind when it comes to buying light bulbs. Philips is looking to change all that with what they're billing as the "world's smartest LED bulb" scheduled to hit Apple Stores on October 30. The energy-efficient bulb system is called hue.

Hue makes it possible to remote control the bulbs from anywhere using an iOS app. The lighting can be adjusted to fit specific colors or a variety of shades of white light. Controlling and monitoring the lighting in your home can make it look like you're there even while traveling.

Apple is taking no chances with its storefronts this week, with a major hurricane bearing down on the northeastern US. 35 retail locations are directly in the path of the storm, and Apple has reportedly taken precautions at up to 50 stores in anticipation of dangerous weather. Several of these locations are temporarily closed due to high winds and the threat of flooding coming along with hurricane Sandy.
