Developer Jeff Broderick has come up with an easy way to call someone by turning their contact info into an app icon on your iPhone's home screen. The QuickContact web app eliminates the need for you to search through your contact list for frequently called friends and family. Just add the contact info of a person you call frequently, and QuickContact will create a shortcut for them on your home screen.

You can choose from 15 pre-made app icons or upload your own for a simple one-touch messaging solution. The app requires access to your device's Settings and that you enter the information for all of your contacts. Broderick says the process is safe and no information is saved, but use it at your own risk.

Chronic Dev Team released another update to the Absinthe jailbreak tool for Mac. The new application jailbreaks the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered and addresses several bugs that users reported while using Absinthe. Planetbeing reports the team has attempted to fix the white icons some users were seeing on their home screens after jailbreaking.

Absinthe version 0.2 also attempts to fix another issue where the iOS device fails to reboot after turning on VPN and touching the Absinthe icon on the home screen. Hopefully the latest version, which was also released for Windows, will help minimize problems for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners looking to install Cydia.

Chronic Dev Team released the highly anticipated Absinthe jailbreak tool for Apple A5 devices running iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 firmware. This solution was in the works for some time, thanks to the efforts of developer pod2g and a "dream team" of iOS hackers.

Like the most recent iPhone 4 jailbreak, Absinthe is untethered and can be installed on mobile devices running Apple's latest firmware (iOS 5.0.1). The greenpois0n servers delivering Absinthe were down for hours today thanks to heavy traffic from jailbreakers across the globe.

The Dreamcast classic Soulcalibur is available for the first time as an iOS app in the Apple App store. Namco has dusted off the old fighting game and brought back all the original stages and 19 fighters. There is an arcade battle mode, time attack mode and two survival modes, but no multi-player mode.

Soulcalibur, originally introduced in arcades in 1998, gained popularity when it was ported to the Sega Dreamcast in 1999. It's the first sequel in the popular Soulcalibur franchise. The game has been upgraded to support the iPhone's Retina display.
