Apple has been going out of its way lately to showcase the talents of iPhone 6 photographers around the world. Of course, in the process the technical abilities of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus camera are highlighted. For anyone who has not seen the Apple World Gallery, there are some stunning images and videos in the collection. Apple has recently added five more videos to the collection, bringing the total number of "films" to 18. Each composition runs 15 seconds including the advertising tag line "Shot on iPhone 6" and a unique music soundtrack matching the visuals. Selections from the World Gallery have been utilized in television ads and in an outdoor advertising campaign around the globe.
The "Shot on iPhone 6" campaign netted Apple and its partner TBWA\Media Art Lab a Grand Prix win at the annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, with stills from the World Gallery featured on billboards, walls and in public transportation venues in 73 cites. The campaign uses photographs shot by 162 iPhone 6 owners in 10,000 advertising installations across 25 countries around the world. Apple described the project as "the largest mobile photography gallery in history," and Cannes jury president Juan Carlos Ortiz called it "a game changer".
Many of the films showcase the time lapse and slow motion capabilities of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus using the stock iOS 8 Camera app. The video collection continues to grow, with no mention of any third-party apps or editing involved in the process. Over 50 still photographs in the collection include captions describing what makes each image unique and interesting, and if third-party apps or accessories were used to capture the shot.
