Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the first iPhone models to ship without the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. All future iPhone models will be packaged with EarPods that connect via a Lightning Connector. Phil Schiller, Apple SVP, said removing the headphone port will not only free up space, but it will help Apple move towards their vision of a “wireless" future. The free space has allowed Apple to include several new features on both iPhone 7 models, including built-in stereo speakers.
Apple also introduced new wireless earbuds, dubbed "AirPods." The AirPods will be available through apple.com in late October for $159.
