Tired of watching video on the iPhone, only to have playback obscured and sound interrupted by a banner notification? Switching to Airplane Mode is not often an option, considering the video is usually streaming online. Jailbreakers can use the tweak NoBanner to solve the problem.
Once installed, the NoBanner settings offer a few options for how banners will be hidden. In addition to a toggle that will disable the tweak entirely, NoBanner can be configured to exclude applications. This means that specific apps can be selected to show banners like normal, instead of hiding them.
Vibration can also be enabled, which will allow the iPhone to vibrate when a notification is received, while still suppressing the banner display. Of course, even when banners are being hidden the notifications still come through, and can be viewed in Notification Center or in specific apps.
NoBanner is available from the BigBoss repo on Cydia for $1.00. To start customizing iOS, click here for instructions on jailbreaking iOS 8.0-8.1.2. Those with older firmware can jailbreak with Pangu (iOS 7.1) or evasi0n 7 (iOS 7.0). Find out how to purchase and install Cydia tweaks with this guide.
