Sharing files between iOS devices and Macs is simplified with AirDrop. AirDrop is a file sharing protocol introduced by Apple starting with iOS 7 and Mac OS X Lion (10.7). To share content from an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:
1. Make sure that Personal Hotspot is off on both the sending and receiving device.
2. Turn on AirDrop in the Control Center. You must choose Everyone or Contacts Only. When sharing to contacts only, both devices must be signed into iCloud.
3. Select the content to be shared, such as a photo or contact. Tap the word Share or the share sheet icon (box with arrow pointing up).
4. Select the nearby person or device under "Tap to share with AirDrop".
