Speck has launched their Pocket-VR case for iPhone. With a portable, slim design the Pocket-VR folds flat to increase portability. The iPhone case, which is included with the collapsible viewing assembly, provides military-grade drop protection and raised rubber ridges for better grip. Unlike some other virtual reality accessories designed for smartphones, the Pocket-VR is open on the top and bottom, making it possible to tap the screen while docked.
The iPhone 6 and 6s are supported by Pocket-VR. Speck bills the accessory as Google Cardboard certified, for a premium viewing experience. But what does that mean? There are now a variety of viewers designed to work with Google Cardboard VR apps and games. Once your iPhone is installed in a compatible viewer, VR apps will work their magic with stereoscopy.
Speck's Pocket-VR includes integrated, retractable side panels that protect the lenses when in transit. Like other Google Cardboard viewers, the QR code on Pocket-VR gives iPhone apps all of the information they need to display content properly, adjusting for the focal length and other parameters specific to Pocket-VR's design.
Speck is already known for its quality lineup of iPhone and iPad cases, and first announced the Pocket-VR at CES in January. Get more info or pick up your own Pocket-VR directly at Speck for $69.95. The product is also available for the Samsung Galaxy S7.
