iPhone 5s Battery Life Problems Due to Manufacturing Issue

If your iPhone 5s needs charging all the time, it turns out you're not alone. A relatively small number of users have reported that their brand new iPhone 5s battery drains abnormally fast. As it turns out, some iPhone 5s batteries are not performing as they should due to a manufacturing issue, and Apple is moving to correct the problem.

Apple did not specify exactly why the larger capacity 1570 mAh power pack was experiencing the problem in some units, however they are contacting affected customers about the issue. Of course, if you suspect that battery life on your iPhone 5s is substandard, the device is covered by a one year AppleCare warranty. Apple can test the device to confirm there's a problem before issuing a replacement or taking corrective action.

Add Live Stats to the iOS Camera App

The iPhone 5 may take quality photos and videos, but the stock Camera app doesn't say much about how much storage is left on your device. Having a video stop recording because the iPhone is full means missing the action. Those who are still running iOS 6-6.1.2 can solve this problem with the jailbreak tweak FreeSpaceCam.

FreeSpaceCam adds more information to the in-camera heads up display. Battery percentage, video time remaining, and available storage capacity can be added to the stock Camera app. Each individual stat can be switched on or off, and the tweak can be disabled entirely if needed.

Schedule the iOS Passcode to Turn Off

Despite the release of iOS 7 there are still some useful jailbreak tweaks being released by developers for those running iOS 6-6.1.2. PasswordTime is a free tweak that will schedule the iOS passcode to be enabled during specific hours. Although this could be a security problem, this idea brings convenience to the forefront instead.

Just like scheduling Do Not Disturb, the tweak PasswordTime makes it possible to set a Start Time and End Time for passcode security. Turning off the passcode at the same time every day can save time and energy when unlocking the iPhone in a safe location. For example, when returning home from work in the evening, the passcode can be automatically switched off.

Report: iTunes Radio is Not Killing Pandora

Predictions of Pandora's demise at the hands of iTunes Radio are premature according to the results of a recent survey. The report, cited by AppleInsider, was produced by investment bank Canaccord Genuity. The company explained that iTunes Radio and Pandora can peacefully coexist, while taking "tremendous share" away from broadcast radio.

As it turns out, while 72 percent of those surveyed had installed iOS 7, only 40 percent of that group had tuned into iTunes Radio. When it comes to ditching Pandora entirely for Apple's new service, eight percent were in that category, with 44 percent listening to both services equally. So why are iOS 7 users sticking with Pandora, despite the integration of iTunes Radio into the stock Music app?

Coming Soon: MOGA Ace Power iOS 7 Game Controller

The latest portable game controller entry from MOGA is almost here. TouchArcade was able to grab a video preview of the Ace Power for iOS 7 devices after it was briefly posted to YouTube. The gaming accessory takes advantage of built-in support for game controllers found in Apple's most recent mobile operating system.

The device has a portable design that fits around the iPhone, adding a directional pad, two analog sticks, four action buttons and R1/R2 and L1/L2 buttons for console-like gameplay. MOGA Boost Technology means there's a rechargeable 1800 mAh battery inside the controller to increase battery life.
