Siri continues to improve, with iOS 14 bringing many enhancements to the voice assistant. A completely new look ensures Siri doesn't take over your iPhone display when answering a question or performing tasks. For those who prefer more information on the screen, enabling full Siri transcription is an option under Settings.

Siri has a completely new look since the launch of iOS 14. Siri's compact design doesn't take over the screen like it used to on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Since the interface only covers the dock and delivers results in a banner, it's easier to keep the current task up front. The trade off for this compact design is that Siri no longer transcribes what it hears when asked a question.

Apple continues to deliver more granular control over privacy options. The release of iOS 14 adds the ability to decide exactly which photos can be accessed by third-party apps. As always, users can prevent an app from accessing the Photos library or allow an app full access to all images. When specific photos are chosen an app such as Facebook can only read those images, while the rest of your Photos library remains off limits.

Making sure an iPhone is unlocked when buying or selling a used device can make or break the sale. It's important that the iPhone is unlocked, so that any compatible SIM card can be used. When an iPhone is locked to one cellular carrier, it cannot be used on another network. Once a device is out-of-contract carriers must unlock it when requested to do so. Many iPhones are sold unlocked, and thanks to iOS 14 there's an easy way to verify if a device is unlocked.

iOS 14's Back Tap is an accessibility feature that literally lets you tap the back of your iPhone to access system features or start shortcut automations. For example you could assign your App Switcher to the double back tap, letting you open your App Switcher simply by tapping the back of your iPhone two or three times. There are a bunch of system and accessibility features available for Back Tap, including Control Center, Home, Screenshot, Magnifier and Zoom among others, but Flashlight is noticeably missing.
