Can I update to iOS 4.3 firmware on the iPhone 3G?

No. Apple is officially leaving the iPhone 3G behind to run iOS 4.2.1 firmware forever. No more updates for the iPhone 3G will be forthcoming.
If you haven't updated to iOS 4.2.1 on your iPhone 3G you can find iPhone 3G firmware files here. The iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 (AT&T only) will support iOS 4.3.

If is was that simple do you think we would ALL be on this site? We aren't idiots! There is no update for the iphone 3 or 3gs. I've spent hours trying to find a way with no such luck. I even went online and found the download, but it will no longer download. It is total bs.

Obviously you didn't realise that you can't upgrade the 3G to 4.3. In fact it was mentioned at the beginning of the thread that it stops at 4.2.1. Why are you even reading this thread given your inability to even follow/understand what it is about? Yet you have the arrogance to call others idiots and pea brains. Maybe it was a miss-understanding on your part, but if you'd have anything constructive to add maybe you should find somewhere else to impart your not so wise words.

Same ... they have in effect made I phone 3 obsolete. My friends cheap Android phone still runs everything and is now better than my i phone . I was going to upgrade to Iphone 4 but will now get a Samsung Galaxy. Who knows when they will make I phone 4 redundant. Seriously Pissed.

So what about the environment, all of these i3 will be tossed out. Waste I say! I just wanted to update ios on my wifes old phone and give it to my daughter. She has been waiting 1 week - i now have to tell her that she cannot get new games on the i phone. Things stick in kids minds, lets see if she buys an Iphone or a mac when she gets older. I allways knew MAC sucked!

Really regret, I also pissed by apple. Now i cant do anything with my iphone except recieving message n call n surfing internet with old style. All new sofware not compatible. Wors,t bluetooth also cant be use with other devices. Remind myself n freind not to buy Iphone, samsung much better

yes all apple products are rubbish update your iphone .hey presto it dont work anymore just because you unlocked it .you bought the phone you should be able to do whatever you want with it,ipod you have to install itunes just to put some music on it ,apple products arnt cool ,you buy one and it says sucker
