How can I dial an international number on the iPhone?
Manually dialing an international number on the iPhone requires the "+" symbol before the country code, which is the first digit entered.
To add "+" when using the Phone Keypad to dial manually, press and hold the 0 (zero) button until the "+" appears. Now you can enter the country code and phone number.

For some reason I can't call to german mobile from my iphone. Are there any settings I'm not aware of? I've been using the same mobile operator and the same plan for 5 years and have never had this problem with my beloved Nokia

Super helpful, thanks. But not very intuitive from Apple.
