AppSnapp Offers One Step Jailbreak of 1.1.1 iPhones and iPod Touch

The last week or two has seen releases or updates to many popular GUI applications which let you jailbreak an iPhone running firmware version 1.1.1 in a semi-automated fashion. Unfortunately, all of these required multiple steps and a good deal of user interaction. Consider that burden a thing of the past. With the recent release of AppSnapp, owners of iPhones running firmware 1.1.1 can now jailbreak their iPhone and be ready to install third party applications in a single step.

As if that wasn't enough, there's more. AppSnapp runs entirely on the iPhone. There's no need to connect

your phone to your PC, no need for iTunes, no need for anything except your iPhone itself. Simply visit the AppSnapp website from your iPhone, click 'Install AppSnapp', and you're done.

Here's what AppSnapp does:

  1. Jailbreaks iPhone/iPod Touch on 1.1.1
  2. Patches Springboard to load third party apps
  3. Activates non-AT&T iPhones automatically, while leaving already activated phones alone
  4. Fixes YouTube on non-AT&T iPhones automatically, while leaving already activated phones alone
  5. Installs Installer.app v3.0b5 on the iPhone/iPod Touch
  6. Fixes Apple's TIFF bug, making your device MORE secure than it was without AppSnapp
Yes, that's right, AppSnapp actually improves the security of your iPhone by fixinf the TIFF bug.

Why is it nobody gets indignant when AppSnapp states, "this software comes with absolutely no warranty of any kind".... yet they get their panties all bunched up when Apple's firmware update bricks a small percentage of Iphones -- most of which were patched with half-assed, half baked code from crackers & software pirates. I'll wait for debugged code from Apple, thank you very much.

It's because there's still debate over whether or not Apple *deliberately* bricked the phones. Also, this only allows you to install 3rd party apps -- it doesn't do a Sim-Unlock which is what bricked the phones in the first place.

AppSnapp also patches the iPhone to protect against the TIFF exploit. Has Apple done that yet?

Even if they *deliberately* bricked the iPhones, what does it matter?

You agree to the EULA when you activate the phone. Don't complain and whine when Apple acts against hackers. It's been done by many software companies in recent years.

I agree that Apple hasn't broken any laws or violated any agreements. I would just say Apple isn't winning themselves any friends. They're going a long way to giving themselves an anti-consumer reputation lately.

It was my understanding that there was no debate. Didn't word come out from the iPhone Dev Team that, after examining the new firmware thoroughly, that it was completely clear that Apple absolutely bricked the phones intentionally?

can I still load appsnapp on my Iphone if I still have 1.0.2 and use apptapp?, will it convert to 1.1.1 or do I need to upgrade to 1.1.1 first?

Upgrade first.
