Can I unlock an iPhone backup if I forgot the password?
iTunes makes it possible to encrypt iPhone backups when syncing your device. Fortunately for security purposes this backup is protected by a password.
Unfortunately, if you forget this password the iPhone backup cannot be unlocked. In this case, the iPhone can't be restored from the encrypted backup.

You guys!!! I suffered and tried every password I knew I used before as passcode or email pass or 0000 or whatever and then I tried to use my phone's name as a password and it worked for me!!!!!!! I can't believe it...Damn , I thought I lose all my data for half an hour and became so desperate but now it's working... I hope it works for you too... you can try it capitalized or non capitalized...I hope it works for you too...

On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > Reset.
Tap Reset All Settings and enter your iOS passcode.
Follow the steps to reset your settings. This won't affect your user data or passwords, but it will reset settings like display brightness, Home screen layout, and wallpaper. It also removes your encrypted backup password.

This idea failed horribly. It not only wiped out all of my personal settings, it did NOT wipe out the password required to restore from the backup.
