UPDATE: A downgrade for 1.1.3 is now available. More information can be found here.
Original article follows:
------
For those of you who decided to try out the latest iPhone firmware in order to check out the new features, planning only to downgrade back to 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 after deciding whether or not the loss of third party applications was worth it, a bit of bad news has found (or shortly will) its way to your doorstep. As it turns out, what was previously witnessed with the leaked 1.1.3 firmware, holds true with Apple's official release - there is no way to downgrade to an earlier firmware version.
As mentioned, for the privileged few who got their hands on the leaked version of 1.1.3, the inability to downgrade firmware was witnessed a couple of weeks ago. Noted iPhone hacker Nate True posted on his blog on creations.net that the downgradebricked the iPhone, stating
downgrading from 1.1.3 will leave you bricked until you upgrade back to 1.1.3, as far as I can tell. The phone (even with an authentic AT&T SIM) reports an Incorrect SIM while iTunes says there's no SIM at all, when you've downgraded back to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 (1.0.x untested).
This also holds true for the officially released version of 1.1.3. This should come as no surprise as reports indicate that the leaked version and the official version are the same. Not almost the same, 100% identical.

So, if you haven't yet upgraded to 1.1.3 and want the flexibility to restore older versions of the iPhone firmware - wait. Otherwise, you'll be out of the third-party applications game until the dev team or someone else figures out how to properly downgrade.

Is this also possible with a 1.1.2 OTB?

Hi Vijay,
Was not possible to mail you...
I have an iPhone 1.1.2 OTB, which accidently has been upgraded to 1.1.3. (it has now baseband version : 04.03.13_G)
Do you know if there is a solution for mac to repair the baseband and being capable to downgrade to 1.1.1 to jailbreak? Is iBricker windows only?
Thanks in advance,
wombi

Wombi,
you are basically screwed. you can not downgrade now that you jumped and upgraded before researching information. Once your phones baseband updated you can not go back down. Learn to read first before pushing the update button. Enjoy firmware 1.1.3 on your iphone!

I now have a very expensive itouch, can use everything but the phone / sms function now.
Guess I am Idiot for not ready also.

I have done a soft upgrade to 1.1.3 and have also successfully downgraded to 1.1.1 & then to 1.1.2. Everything seems to work fine, Phone, SMS, Edge, Youtube etc. although the journey was troublesome. currently running 1.1.2 with baseband 04.02.13_G

I'm in the same position, looking to downgrade after a soft upgrade. Currently have the 04.02.13_G baseband. Could you let me know how you got back to 1.1.2 from where I'm at? Thank you!

Hi Sunil,
I guiess you are the right person to tell me how you did the upgrade/update of firmware from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2. I had a OTB 1.1.2 with a 4.6BL and had to downgrade to 1.1.1 to make the phone workable. Now I am stuck with Firmware 1.1.1 and baseband 04.02.13_G. When I try to soft upgrade to 1.1.3, it says I am not at 1.1.2. So I would like to know what I should do to upgrade to 1.1.2 without affecting my phone function and also not bricking my iPhone. Await your step by step instruction. Thanks!

Hi
I'm looking for advice. I have an OTB 1.1.2 iphone with stealthsim. I upgraded to 1.1.3 using the Nate True method. I just checked my baseband and it is 04.02.13_G. So this obviously hasn't been upgraded. Does this mean it is safe to downgrade to 1.1.2 (cos 1.1.3 sucks IMO)

if your phone was 1.1.1 or below out of the box, you CAN downgrade the baseband. It's a real PITA but it can be done. Check http://iphone.unlock.no/

You don't need to downgrade any longer to jailbreak. You can use iJailbreak or ZiPhone.

I need real help. I had the iphone with the 1.1.4 version and decided to upgrade it to the 2.0 new version. Unfortunately everything went pretty bad. The iphone was blocked and the only thing i saw in the screen was the itunes icon and a new usb connector.
Then I decided to restore the iphone, but I get a new legend that it says that the simcard can not be recognized (ofcourse I do not have my phone with at&t).
I need really help and see if i'm able to fix it either with ziphone or any other software. Anyone knows?
