Will a T-Mobile SIM card work in my iPhone? They are both GSM/EDGE.

Out of the box, the GSM version of the Apple iPhone (up to the iPhone 4) and the iPhone 4S will only work on Apple approved GSM providers (i.e. AT&T).

T-Mobile SIM cards can be used in an iPhone that has been jailbroken and unlocked via third party software. There are a variety of commercial and non-commercial software options available which unlock the iPhone.

Though unlocking has become very common for users that do not want to be tied to a particular carrier or bound by a contract, users should understand that unlocking is performed 'at your own risk'.

Hi there, I just recently got an iPhone. However, it's not unlocked because I cannot use any sim card on it. Everything else is obviously fxning fine, except call related features. Is there anyway to enable the phone to work with a tmobile sim without purchasing hyper-card? I tried using AnySim?

Any other suggestions?

Im looking into buying the new iphone coming out on july. I know now you can unlock the phone and change sim cards. But are you able to use the internet freely, receive calls, make calls and all that..
Is it true you have to update the software every so often to avoid the phone getting luck again?

You would need to jailbreak the iPhone, but once you do that, there really is no reason you shouldn't be able to do as you wish.

I am also ordering an unlocked iPhone from ebay. I went to youtube and watched a whole bunch of videos to ensure that the whole process would work. Plus I know computer smart people so nothing will be a problem for me. But anyways I do have tmobile... You have to download Cydia via wi-fi from the tzones. It is also nicknamed the Tzones hack. It is pretty much like tmobiles version of the net, like mozilla firefox but for the iphone. Yes iphones can be unlocked but you have to know who or how to get it done. Your tmobile card should fir the apple iphone 3g without a problem, their is also a youtube video going after this delima. So yes you can use tmobile and use all the iphones features. If you have AT&T the average iPhone bill is 150$$$ by itself. So it would be better just to get an iphone jailbroken and unlocked for tmobile use.

i just got service with At&T and was thinking about buying an Iphone on the side. Now if I put my SIM card in it will it work if I don't have the basic plan required by AT&T for the iPhone? And does it make a difference if the iPhone is jailbroken or not? Reason being, I have a family plan and don't wanna pay as much as they want for a single iPhone.

Christ. To unlock an iPhone and get it to work with T-Mobile (Or ANY carrier with a GSM SIM chip), just jailbreak it. Download QuickPwn[version of software]. Restore your iPhone (Erase to factory settings + resync). Plug your iPhone into the computer. Then, open QuickPwn and follow the steps. Select the restore you want for the software (get 2.2.1 if you have it, latest version), and then continue. It will unlock the features like SIM-Switch, backgrounds, etc.

The whole process takes up to 3 hours, depending on what you have on your i[Blank].

me and my sister both had i-phones with at&t, the guy saying that the phones has a pin hole to slide out the sim card is right! we both unlocked our phones in the past and had t-mobil. for reasons that i wont mention I had to cut my sister off her plan, she lent her cousin her i-phone who put an at&t sim on her phone. When we tried to activate her phone with t-mobil again the sim they provided didn't work, it seems the phone got locked again because her cousin installed new version of itunes. Well at-least thats what we are thinking now. If anyone knows how we could unlock the phone with having to pay someone to do it again, please respond. To clarify my question, does anyone now of a free way to unlock your phone?.... thanks!

You can go to www.blackra1n.com and download blackra1n for windows or mac. After download, go to your desktop and open blackra1n, press run program, and then a message will pop up saying "Make it rain". Click "make it rain" and this will download the program in your iphone. Wait for your phone to restart and then go to the blackra1n icon in you iphone and install the "snow" download. After this is done, your phone will work with any carrier's sim card.

***Note: You have to have a wifi or internet connection to download snow on iphone.***

How did your experience go with phone from China. I was on the Lightininthebox website and saw a wifi quadband phone for an unbelievable low cost. Did sim cards from AT&T and or TMobile work for you. What service did you purchase? Monthly or Pay as you Go. TMobile's Prepaid Everything for either 30 or 45 dollars seems like a great deal. If you went with AT&T what did you purchase.

Hey do I just jail broke my 3GS using Spirit, and everything went smoothly, but now that I try using my brothers sim card for t-mobile it doesn't have any bars for me to process calls...
