During the keynote address at WWDC 2009 Phil Schiller, the senior vice president of Apple's worldwide product marketing, revealed the new iPhone 3GS. The new iPhone model has the same design as the iPhone 3G, however the S stands for speed.
The new model will be faster and have a higher storage capacity. Apple also announced that an 8GB version of the iPhone 3G will sell for $99.

low light and macro modes
30 FPS VGA video recording
Email, YouTube, MMS and MobileMe video sharing
Voice control by holding down home button (for dialing and other functions)
VoiceOver will read what you touch on the screen

Digital compass
Compass app and orientation in Google maps
Hardware encryption
Instantaneous remote wipe
Encrypted iTunes backups
Improved battery life
Smaller packaging, arsenic-free glass, mercury-free LCD

I think they are good improvements, although the battery didn't seem to me ""very improved"-just a little. Also I guess NO mate/rubber finish on the back- but i was really more excited for iChat and video conferencing which is not coming ...maybe next yr???
