How can set the number of rings on my iPhone before voicemail picks up?

You can set the iPhone to wait longer or shorter than the default 20 seconds before it goes to voicemail when receiving an incoming call. This will result in a different number of rings before the voice messaging system picks up the line and plays your outgoing message. To change the amount of time the iPhone will ring follow these steps:

1. Open the phone app and dial *#61# on the Keypad. Press the Call button.

2. Locate this text on the screen: "Setting Interrogation Succeeded, Voice Call Forwarding, When Unanswered, Forwards to +" and record the 11-digit number after the + symbol.

3. Touch the Dismiss button. Now enter this code on the Keypad: *61*+ followed by the 11-digit Forwards to number recorded in step 2, followed by *11 and *ringtime#. Ringtime is the number of seconds you want your iPhone to ring before voicemail picks up. Your finished code should look something like this:

*61*+18555513466*11*30#

In the example above the ring time is set to 30 seconds. Press the Call button.

4. You should receive the message: Setting Activation Succeeded. Press Dismiss and next time you receive a call it will ring for the new amount of time before going to voicemail.

Tried your instructions and got:

"Error performing request Unknown Error"
"Setting Activation Failed Voice Call Forwarding When Unanswered"

iphone 4s + OS6.0 (10A403)

Tried it too. Got to the first step and it said the code you entered is not valid

Me too! I hate the fact I have to drive to a store for them to do it! Never got further than dialing *#61#. Got error code.

Do Not enter the plus sign.

Just leaving out the plus sign does it.

Tried your instructions many times and alway got the unknown error as above.

I also tried it, and in the process, found that the ringtime has to be set to either 0 or multiples of 5. It gave me the same error if I tried to set it to 1-2-3-4-6-7-8-9-11-12-13-14-16-17-18-...you get the point. Hope this helps everyone.

Still didn't work.

Ya, just don't use the +, or equivalent 0 in the sequence and it should work. I had same error every time, decided to try without the +, and worked great.

Surprised that others who had the same problem, then omitted the + couldn't have mentioned that little adjustment.

Forget the + and it works fine

Tried everything, leaving out +, etc, my issue is that with the International dialing code my number has 12 digits not 11, could this be the problem, driving me crazy

Hi There,

I'm with Virgin on an iPhone 4S - had no luck with any combination of any of this so I googled through Virgin mobile and got it pretty quickly via the info on this page:
https://community.virginmobile.com.au/t5/Phones-knowledge-base/What-do-I-need-to-know-about-Voicemail/ta-p/62

Thanks! This worked for me :)

Thanks for this link! These instructions actually worked.

Then you either ARE a virgin, have a Virgin phone.., Or Both!

Ida

My code is 12 digit but putting 00 instead of the + worked fine.

Thanks Steve by replacing + with 00 worked fine regards john

I have 12 digits as well. What to do?

Didn't read the hint about leaving out the +, which comes up as 0 on my iPhone 4. My work around was to enter the series of numbers as a new contact, where I was able to access the + sign. It worked!

Thank you! After many unsuccessful attempts, I followed your advice and voila!

Voila nothing!

Please send a detailed set of instructions, also your Iphone model, software and carrier, because not all of these iphones are set up the same from carrier to carrier.

Hold the 0 down ant it will turn into a +

Hold the 0 down ant it will turn into a +

If you hold down the 0 for a few seconds it becomes the + sign. On the iphone5 - don't know about the others.

HI, Help…. I did this and it worked the first time but how can I undo it? Doing this somehow affected the mail. I did it on my husbands phone and now his mail does not work. I just want to undo the sequence that I put in. Thanks a lot p

That still leaves another question. If you eliminated the + or 0, do you leave a blank space there, or just put in the next symbol in line, eliminating +l, 0 and removing the space between altogether?

thanks, when i had it set to 26 it didn't work, but i bumped it to 30 and it worked! (this was on a iphone 4s, ios 6.1)

Works great, thanks!

Doesn't work. I have tried every combination suggested.
