The Dev-Team could be working on an unlock for iPhone users who have already updated to official firmware 3.1.3 and find themselves stuck with no unlock options at the moment. Sherif Hashim has discovered an exploit that could be used to unlock the current iPhone baseband so the iPhone can be used with carriers other than AT&T.
This exploit was verified by Dev-Team's own MuscleNerd as a legitimate and working exploit. It's possible the Dev-Team would wait until the release of iPhone OS 4.0 on the next generation iPhone before revealing the exploit to Apple with a new unlock, however the new iPhone isn't expected to ship until later this summer.
MuscleNerd will defer to the Dev-Team's opinion on when to release the 5.12 unlock. Sherif Hashim's exploit uses a previously undiscovered security flaw that makes it possible to unlock the baseband.
Many iPhone users are already running the latest baseband (05.12.01) and can't downgrade to unlock their devices. The baseband refers to software that runs the iPhone's cellular modem, the hardware that communicates with the wireless network.

yes it will jailbreak any iphone or ipod touch device and if you want you could use 3.1.2 to jailbreak your ipod touch

i understand that 3GS 3.1.3 MC model cant be broken as yet, however is there a way to customise buttons like whiteboard, or can I only do that with whiteboard?

download 3.1.3 custom firmware and put yor iphone in recovery mode then go to itunes hold shift button then press restore in itunes and find the firmware u download..............click ok.................hope its working

hi, u can jailbreak it but u cant unlock it for now, maybe the Dev-team gonna release the unlock software this 1st week of April. let's see.. I'm from Philippines too...

I have the jailbreak and have been reading around for a while trying to find a unlock for the 05.12.01 baseband. Seems to be some places claiming it can unlock the phone... "Unlock_3g_baseband_05_12_01.rar". Are they ever going to release the unlock for the iphone with the updated baseband? I hear they are waiting for the newer os system before they release it but I am getting desperate and want to use my phone. Does anybody know of a unlock (besides hardware) for the 05.12.01 firmware on the os 3.1.3 iphone?
