Apple sent out an email this morning making the iPhone's arrival official. Stating little more than "Say Hello to iPhone Today," the notice from Apple will greet many an anxious prospective customer as they open their inboxes today. For hordes of iPhone hopefuls, many long months of waiting are less than a half a day away from being over.
The iPhone will go on sale nationwide at Apple and AT&T retail outlets at 6pm local time and will be available for purchase from Apple's online store at 6pm PDT.
Apple's website can be utilized to check the stock status of the iPhone at your local Apple retail store. Head here to check the availability of the iPhone before heading out.

I called the Apple Store (1-800-My-Apple) at 6pm EST and was told that they will not be taking iPhone orders over the phone. This conflicts with what I was told yesterday when I called and asked (oh well).
Also, when I hit the online store at the same time it stated that the store was shut down until 6pm PDT.
Now I have to wait until midnight EST to place my order. I just hope they're spinning up a BUNCH of web servers to handle the onslaught.

I know, I know... 6pm EST 3 hours = 9pm PDT, not midnight.
I hate it when I say stupid stuff.

Wow. Online sales are delayed 2-4 weeks.
