There's been all kinds of rumors floating around about the official release date for Five Nights at Freddy's 4, but so far none of them have been true because the game shockingly popped up on Steam today. The game featured a note from its developer Scott Cawthon who wrote, "Ok, so as many of you already know, I'm bad with release dates. The game is finished. Enjoy!" Here's the trailer and official synopsis for the game:
"This time, the terror has followed you home."
"In this last chapter of the Five Nights at Freddy's original story, you must once again defend yourself against Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and even worse things that lurk in the shadows. Playing as a child whose role is yet unknown, you must safeguard yourself until 6am by watching the doors, as well as warding off unwanted creatures that may venture into your closet or onto the bed behind you."
"You have only a flashlight to protect yourself. It will scare away things that may be creeping at the far end of the hallways, but be careful, and listen. If something has crept too close, then shining lights in its eyes will be your end."
So far Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is only available for Windows with no word on when it will be launched on other platforms, including iOS. A quick glance at Cawthon's website also gives no indication when he plans to release a mobie version of the game.Cawthon originally teased the game back in April with a release date of October 31, 2015, but rumors of an earlier August release started to gain steam in July. The previous three titles in the series were also released on desktop before making their way to mobile devices.
