Kingdom Rush and Frontiers Endless Modes Coming Soon

After updating the Steam version of Kingdom Rush with The Curse of Castle Blackburn campaign, Ironhide Game Studio announced both Kingdom Rush and its sequel Kingdom Rush: Frontiers will be getting "Endless Modes". It has been over seven months since the last update was rolled out to Frontiers.

While this is good news, "endless modes" are normally the last and final update developers add to their games. However, Ironhide has been supplying Kingdom Rush fans with new content since it was originally released in 2011, so it is hard to believe this is the end of the franchise.

Angry Birds Star Wars II is Now Free on the App Store, Adds 30 New Levels

Angry Birds Star Wars II has been updated with 30 new levels, and it is free for the first time on the Apple App Store. The all-new "Master Your Destiny" chapter allows you to play as a young Jedi warrior or Pork Federation member as you train to become a Jedi or Sith Knight. There are 15 new Bird Side levels and 15 new Pork Side levels.

If you have never played Angry Birds Star Wars II, the game is based on the original Star Wars prequels. Players can choose to join the Force for good, “Join the Pork Side” and play as popular villains such as Darth Maul. The game features over 30 playable characters based on popular Star Wars universe and it supports Hasbro's interactive telepod toys.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout Finally Gets a Release Date

Gameloft has confirmed that the long awaited Modern Combat 5: Blackout will be available for iOS and Android devices on July 24, 2014. The good news is the game will priced at $6.99 with no in-app purchases, but it will require an internet connection. Windows Phone owners will also have to wait a little longer than iOS and Android users for the game to be released.

In Modern Combat 5 players take the role of Phoenix, a counter-terrorism expert who gets caught up in a global conflict after his mission to transport WMDs in Venice, Italy goes wrong. The first person shooter promises to deliver plenty of advanced combat weaponry, a wide a range of "visually-stunning settings" and "thrilling action-packed combat sequences," according to Gameloft. The game will also feature both compact and dynamic single-player missions, a unified progression system and multiplayer mode.

The Apple App Store has been buzzing with a lot of big releases this week. Facebook launched its doomed Snapchat clone, Gameloft released its free RPG, Dungeon Gems, Disney unleashed Star Wars Scene Maker, and last but not least LEGO's Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril landed on the App Store today.

The LEGO action adventure title is a port of the Nintendo DS handheld version released last year. The game allows you to play as Marvel superheroes such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Captain America and Wolverine as you attempt to stop Loki and other Marvel villains from destroying the world. The game includes over 91 playable characters, 45 missions to complete and both console and touch controls.

This week's big App Store news was all about Apple reportedly rejecting games that rewards users for video views and social sharing. Apple is also rumored to be cracking down on fake rankings to clean up the App Store before it receives its big iOS 8 overhaul later this year. In other news, ESPN became the first sports provider for iTunes Radio, and Skype's iOS app received a huge redesign.
