Apple TV+ shows free to watch until January 3

Apple is currently running a promotion until January 3rd for non-subscribers to stream the first season of selected shows on Apple TV+ for free. All you need to watch is an Apple ID and the Apple TV app to start. Viewers can also see the shows using the Apple TV+ website at tv.apple.com.

Apple TV+ often makes the first episode of shows free to stream, however through January 3, 2023 the entire first season can be watched. Shows included in the current promotion are:

Good news for iPhone 14 owners experiencing a strange display issue. The glitch, which appears as horizontal lines on the screen has been reported by iPhone 14 owners when waking their devices. The issue can also happen when booting up an iPhone 14. Strangely, the horizontal lines shape, size, and number is not consistent from iPhone to iPhone.

While the lines flash up on the display, they disappear quickly. Most cases of the issue look to be happening on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple to allow third-party app stores on iPhone

One of the biggest changes since the introduction of apps may be coming to the iPhone. Apple is reportedly working on solutions to allow third-party app stores onto its platform. Currently all software that is installed on iOS must be vetted and distributed via Apple's App Store. Upcoming European Union (EU) regulations may change all that.

Apple renames its headset platform 'xrOS'

Apple has settled on a name for its upcoming mixed-reality headset platform. The new operating system and hardware performs both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) functions. According to reports, the headset will ship next year with xrOS installed. The xrOS name stands for "extended reality", which was previously described as realityOS or just rOS.

For 2022, Apple has added some features to Replay, which reviews the entire year of listening stats, top songs, favorite albums, and more. The service has often been compared the competing annual summary Spotify Wrapped. Spotify Wrapped is delivered once per year, while Apple Music Replay can be accessed during the year as it changes.
