Next Generation iPhone the Last Steve Jobs Design?

The next generation iPhone 5/6 has now been confirmed by three different major media sources to be designed with a larger 4-inch screen. Apple fans know that Steve Jobs was deeply involved in almost all of the company's major products, and according to a report in Bloomberg the upcoming iPhone was no different.

Once source told Bloomberg that Jobs "worked closely on the redesigned phone before his death in October." Apple was working on sixth-generation iPhone designs well before the launch of the iPhone 4S last fall.

Pod2g Adds the iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G to List of Supported Jailbreak Devices [iOS 5.1.1]

iOS developer pod2g is only a "couple of weeks" away from releasing his new jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1. He previously announced that he had successfully tested the jailbreak on the original iPad, iPad 2, new iPad, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Meaning that the iPod 3G, iPhone 3GS and ATV3 would not be supported. On Friday, pod2g announced that both the iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS will be compatible with the new jailbreak.

"Good news. We've found a way through for iPod 3G and iPhone 3Gs users. Upcoming jailbreak will be compatible."

There was also some confusion over what iPad models would be supported, but it seems safe to assume that the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak will work with every version of the iPad. Pod2g hasn't officially tested the iPhone 3GS, or non-Wi-Fi iPads yet, but he has said that they "should work." Read on for his complete list of tested devices for the upcoming jailbreak.

Once again, some iPhone owners have experienced problems with their battery life after updating to the latest firmware, in this case iOS 5.1.1. Updating over-the-air is convenient, but for some it caused battery life to be noticeably shorter despite the fixing of several bugs. Apple Planning a 100% Renewable Energy iCloud

Apple is working on powering its massive data centers from 100% renewable energy sources. A 20-megawatt solar photovoltaic electric generating facility has just been approved for the Maiden, NC facility. 60 percent of the facility's electricity consumption will be generated on site by solar and fuel cells, with the remaining 40 percent coming from external renewable energy providers.

A new data center in Prineville, OR will come online with 100 percent renewable energy from the start. Apple also plans to renovate its Newark, CA data center starting in 2013, and will move that location to clean energy as well. The announcements come on the heels of several Greenpeace actions to bring attention to data center power consumption.

Like clockwork, the next version of Apple's mobile operating system has been spotted by developers. The company routinely tests new versions of iOS ahead of release, and iOS 6 is no different. Some reports claim Apple will announce some of the firmware's features at WWDC in early June.

Apple is planning some significant changes to iOS 6, including replacing Google maps with its own software. Another reported change would allow developers to create applications that interact with Siri.
