Analyst Report: Google Chrome Browser for iOS Coming This Year

Google wants to keep 100% of its mobile search revenue, and plans to do so by releasing Google Chrome for iOS devices before the end of the year, according to Macquarie analyst Ben Schacter.

Schacter writes: "Apple may already be reviewing Google’s submitted code for a Chrome browser for iOS."

It's unknown whether Apple will approve or reject the Chrome browser, but Schacter claims we can expect it sometime this year.

"Schacter says we can expect a Chrome browser for iOS as soon as Q2, but if not this quarter, then definitely this year."

According to Business Insider, Google must share an estimated 50%-60% of its search revenue with Apple. If Google cuts out Apple's Safari browser they will then get to keep 100% of their revenue.

SloPro App Records Slow Motion on iPhone 4S

Looking to record real slow motion video at 60 fps (frames per second)? Thanks to SloPro from Sand Mountain Studios, your iPhone 4S can now handle the job at 720p HD resolution. Unlike editing software that slows down standard 30 fps video after the fact, SloPro actually records high quality, smooth slow motion directly.

The higher frame rate can be toggled at any time by pressing the volume down button while recording video. Just like the camera roll, videos recorded with SloPro can be trimmed, and the slow motion can be changed after recording is complete.

Facebook Rolls Out Photo Redesign for iPhone and Android Devices

Facebook has rolled out an improved design for all iOS and Android devices. Photos are now 3x larger and posts in your News Feed will fill your mobile screen from edge to edge. This makes browsing Facebook on your iPhone much easier since you do not have to spend time waiting for individual photos to load.

The new Facebook design makes reading your News Feed easier, but they still left out the "share" button for iOS devices. It's also reminiscent of Instagram which Facebook acquired for $1 billion. The new larger photos ensure mobile Facebook users will browse their Facebook pages more rapidly instead of waiting for slow connection times.

HomeSpringPage: Add an Empty Page to Your Home Screen for Widgets

The new jailbreak tweak HomeSpringPage allows you to create a blank page on your iPhone's Home screen to use with Dashboard X widgets. Dashboard X is another Cydia tweak that allows you to add Notification Center or user made widgets to your Home screen.

After you have installed Dashboard X ($1.99 via the ModMyi repo) and HomeSpringPage, the first page of your iPhone will be completely devoid of any app icons. This gives you the free space to add any Notification Center or jailbreak widgets you own. You can also use a combination of apps and widgets on the new page.

So what does the latest part tell us about the next generation iPhone? As MacRumors points out, the arrangement of the components is significantly different from the current iPhone 4S configuration. While the new part combines the three functions listed above, the current version groups the volume buttons, mute switch and earphone jack together.
