See How iOS Apps Access Your Data With Clueful

Are you concerned that your iPhone or iPad apps are collecting personal data without your permission? Now thanks to a new app called Clueful you can safeguard your privacy and see exactly what your iOS apps are doing. Some apps track location, use your address book, send your credentials out unencrypted, and/or track usage.

Some functions in these apps can even keep your GPS or audio services running unnecessarily, which can drain your battery. Many apps ask for personal data they don't need, or in some cases link your behavior to a real identity such as a Facebook page.

New Cydia Tweak Allows Siri to Perform Local Searches Outside of the U.S.

Here is a great Cydia add-on for international travelers. International Locations for Siri allows Siri to perform local searches outside of the U.S.. While Siri can speak several languages, and is also available in other countries, location based services are currently only available in the U.S..

I obviously can't test the tweak without leaving the country, but the $0.99 investment may be worth the risk to some frequent travelers. The add-on is available for download via the BigBoss repo. If you do not already have AssistantExtensions it will be installed when you download the tweak.

Stolen iPhone Adventures: Thief Uploads Cruise Pictures to Photo Stream

According to the interwebs (via Cult of Mac), a woman has been tracking her stolen iPhone via pictures that the thief has been taking with her phone.

Katy McCaffrey's iPhone was stolen on board the Disney Wonder cruiseline back in April. When the alleged thief named "Nelson" started using the phone to take pictures, they were uploaded to McCaffrey's Photo Stream. McCaffrey then started a public Facebook page entitled Stolen iPhone Adventures to keep track of Nelson's personal exploits.

Flexible 'Yoga' iPhone 5? Not So Fast

Could bending and twisting iPhones be coming to consumers in 2012? Not likely, however a report in Korea Times has industry watchers talking about flexible screen technology anyway. Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun told the publication his company is getting ``huge’’ orders for its line of flexible OLED displays.

When it comes to component manufacturers getting huge orders for their products, Apple immediately comes to mind as a likely buyer. Apple has been one of Samsung's largest customers for mobile displays despite their competition in the smartphone market and raging patent battles.

More Regional Carriers Get the iPhone 4S

Now there are 13 different carrier choices for the iPhone 4S across the United States. Not only this, but Puerto Rico has joined in the fun with its own local carrier Open Mobile offering the Apple device. The iPhone has come a long way since 2007, when Apple had a deal with exclusive carrier AT&T for the iPhone.

Oklahoma-based Pioneer Cellular is the latest regional carrier to announce support for the iPhone, and has started rolling out the device in its stores. Pioneer will continue to release the iPhone 4S at additional stores across the state every other week. Data plans with the carrier start at $30 per month.
