Apple's ReplayKit was introduced at last year's WWDC as a tool to record video game play on both the iPhone and iPad. Considering the popularity of video game streaming on sites like Twitch and YouTube, it is a welcome addition.

Autoplay is all the rage, with many apps such as Netflix, YouTube and others continuously playing videos non-stop. This can be a welcome feature when binge watching a show, however at times it's a problem. For example, YouTube will keep playing recommended videos ad nauseam, which could end up coming from anywhere. The good news is that YouTube has a switch to turn this feature off.

There is a growing generation of mobile users out there who are turning to their iPhone more and more as their primary media device. It doesn’t matter that it doesn’t have the same screen size of a television, laptop or even a tablet, they find that the convenience of having such a versatile media tool right in their pocket is too great to turn anywhere else.

The Video LAN Organization has come one step closer to their motto, "VLC plays everything and runs everywhere". The first port of VLC media player for Apple TV has arrived on the App Store, promising to play almost any video stream or file in its native format. The announcement comes hot on the heels of a major update to the VLC for Mobile iOS app. Not only does VLC bring incredibly versatile video playback to Apple's latest app platform, the software adds several Apple TV specific features.

Now that the VideoLAN organization has resolved its licensing issues, development of VLC for iOS is in full swing. Arguably the most versatile free media player available, the VLC for Mobile iOS app received major updates this month. Notable changes include full iOS 9 support and a rewritten Apple Watch extension for watchOS 2.
