iCloud Drive is Apple's cloud storage service, similar to Google Drive and Dropbox. If you have an Apple ID then you automatically have iCloud Drive and 5 free GB of storage, upgradable to higher amounts. It is a pretty handy service to use on your iPhone or iPad to save email attachments and other files to, making them instantly accessible on any other device that you log into your iCloud Drive from.

iBooks is an app you should be using on your iPhone/iPad if you are a fan of e-readers. The app offers thousands of titles from all genres in both text and audio formats. While many of the books are for purchase, there is also a sizable collection of free content. Since you don't need an internet connection once you've downloaded your book, the app is ideal for situations where you may not have a WiFi connection. Here's how to get started:

In an attempt to compete with other online news sources, Apple replaced its Newsstand with the News app in iOS 9. News pulls stories from RSS feeds and puts them together in a magazine style layout, making for a much more user-friendly experience than its predecessor offered. Although it was a vast improvement, the app hasn't quite gained the traction Apple wants, thus the new round of improvements found in iOS 10.

iOS 10 brings several significant changes to the Photos app, including the addition of two new folders: People and Places. With its new facial and object recognition capabilities, Photos uses "Siri intelligence" to scan through your photos and tag them based on the content. This allows you to search for similar objects and people, so for example, you can now search your photos for, say, "car" and you should be presented with all of your photos containing cars (and likely a few that don't).

Apple hasn't announced a final release date for iOS 10, but we do know the final version will be available in the fall. The new software update will launch alongside the the iPhone 7 in September. Early reports have suggested that pre-orders for the next-generation handset will open on September 9th. If true, this means thousands of iPhone owners will be installing the new firmware to their device in a little over a month.
iOS 10 doesn't include any major bells and whistles, but it does come jammed packed with tons of new messaging features, new 3D Touch options and lots of other fun tweaks and improvements. However, with every new update there is always some feature you will not like. Luckily you can disable most of the new iOS 10 features if you find them annoying.
