Maintaining the health of an iPhone battery is important, particularly as the device ages. iPhone models from the 14 and 15 series currently face the highest out-of-warranty battery replacement costs at $99. Recent updates in March 2023 have also seen a $20 increase for older models, setting the replacement costs at $89 for the iPhone 13 through iPhone X, and $69 for the iPhone SE, iPhone 8, and earlier models.
With the introduction of USB-C on the iPhone 15 and later, the iPhone can be used to charge other accessories. The iPhone 15 model series can output 4.5 watts via USB-C. This feature effectively makes the iPhone battery into a backup power brick or universal USB-C charger. Any charging of external devices will, of course, deplete the iPhone battery level.

Automations can be used to invoke a wide variety of actions automatically on your iPhone. With Automations, iOS is programmed to react to certain conditions or data detected on your device. One example of a useful Automation conserves battery power after the remaining power level drops to a predetermined threshold.

Battery replacements on older iPhone models are set to increase in cost. Starting on March 1, 2023, Apple will raise repair fees for iPhones that are out of warranty by $20. AppleCare+ subscribers will not be affected by this change. Since the iPhone 14 launch in September, battery replacement service on the latest models have been priced at $99.
