evad3rs Already Have All the Pieces They Need to Jailbreak iOS 7

It looks like the jailbreaking team who brought us evasi0n is getting closer to cracking iOS 7. Planetbeing tweeted this afternoon: "We're still working hard on the jailbreak. May have all the pieces at this point (but not certain yet)."

This does not mean a public jailbreak is right around the corner, but it does show progress is being made.

iOS 7 Jailbreak

This is great news for jailbreakers who are waiting to upgrade to iOS 7. The last public jailbreak was patched by iOS 6.1.3 in March, leaving millions of Apple users stranded at iOS 6.1.2.

Add Samsung's Smart Pause to Your iPhone

Two of the Samsung Galaxy S4's signature features are Smart Pause and Smart Scroll. Smart Pause automatically stops a video when a user looks away from their display, or puts the device down. This is a great feature when it works properly, and now iOS users can get in on the action.

FaceHalt Jailbreak Tweak

A new jailbreak tweak called FaceHalt will perform the same function as Samsung's Smart Pause on your iPhone or iPad. According to the official description, FaceHalt works with most video applications, except apps with custom implementations like VLC. It supports the fifth-generation iPod, iPhone 4S, 5, iPad 2, 3, 4 and mini. Support for the non-supported applications is also coming soon.

How can I jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 / iOS 6.1.4?

Sadly for those with iOS devices running iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 there is no jailbreak solution available at this time. Apple killed the untethered 6.1.2 jailbreak found at evasi0n.com with the iOS version 6.1.3 firmware update. The development team responsible for the jailbreak software known as the evad3rs has decided to wait unti the launch of iOS 7 before releasing the next untethered jailbreak.

Apple Releases iOS 6.1.3: Does Patch evasi0n Jailbreak (Updated)

Apple has released iOS 6.1.3 which fixes the lock screen security bug, and improves the Maps app for users in Japan. It is unknown at this time if the update patches the evasi0n jailbreak. This means users with jailbroken devices should avoid the update until we learn more. All other iOS users can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, or connect their devices to iTunes to upgrade their devices.

iOS Update

The evad3rs' Twitter feed has been quiet since the release, and the official evasi0n website has not been updated to reflect it supports the new firmware.

UPDATE: Evad3rs member MuscleNerd issued this warning to jailbreakers via Twitter: "IOS 6.1.3 is out. Jailbreakers stay away! There's no coming back to 6.1.2 JB even if you saved blobs (except iPhone4 and ipt4g."
