HiddenHelper Allows You to Multitask While Using Siri

HiddenHelper, the new jailbreak tweak for the iPhone, allows you to use Siri without the Siri interface popping up on your Home screen. This can be helpful when you want to set your alarm or dictate a note on your iPhone while you are using the device for something else, and you don't want Siri to interrupt. For example, Siri will not interrupt your Angry Birds game by displaying the note you just dictated to her. It's a great multitasking tool.

HiddenHelper also allows you to decide which Siri snippets you want displayed, and which snippets you want disabled. Asking Siri to tell you about the weather is useless without the UI because Siri displays the temperature instead of reading it to you. Wolfram Alpha queries are also pointless without Siri displaying the results.

Make Google Chrome Your Default iPhone Browser

Jailbreak developer Ryan Petrich has released a new tweak called BrowserChooser in response to Google's popular iOS Chrome browser app being released yesterday. Petrich tweeted: “BrowserChooser is up on rpetri.ch/repo. Loving Chrome for iOS so much that it had to be built.”

The tweak allows you to change your default browser to Google Chrome, Opera Mini, iCab Mobile, Dolphin Browser, Atomic Browser or Safari. You can toggle between all your available browsers in the Settings menu. Petrich's tweak arrived around the same time Chrome became the most downloaded free app in the App Store.

RedSn0w Update Fixes iPhone 3GS iBooks Bug

The Dev Team released redsn0w version 0.9.12b2 on Friday. The update fixes the iPhone 3GS iBooks issue, and gives users a rocky-racoon injection option.

RedSn0w

From the Dev Team's website:

"Update #1: Starting with version 0.9.12b2, redsn0w will now explicitly ask users with limera1n-able devices whether they want to inject rocky-racoon using the DFU ramdisk method, or the backup/restore method (the ramdisk method is better for those with lots of media on their device that would create very large backups, and it’s required for those with unactivated iPhones). If you’ll always want to use limera1n, you can select that in the Preferences pane. It also fixes an iBooks issue on old-bootrom 3GS iPhones, and provides more useful error messages when things go wrong.”

New Jailbreak Tweaks: BannerDisable and FacebookThis

Two new and interesting jailbreak tweaks popped up in Cydia today. BannerDisable adds a “Do Not Disturb” toggle switch to your iPhone. The switch allows you to quickly disable notifications for all apps with one button. Once installed, the “Do Not Disturb” toggle will appear beneath the Airplane Mode option under Settings for quick access. There is also another tweak called DoNotDisturb which adds the same kind of switch to your Notification Center.

The second tweak called FacebookThis allows users to upload photos to Facebook directly from their Camera Roll. Apple is expected to announce full Facebook integration with iOS 6 next week at the WWDC conference. This tweak allows jailbreakers who will not be upgrading to experience some Facebook integration, but not the full Facebook integration non-jailbreakers will be enjoying in the future.

MobileTerminal Now Available in Cydia

Yay! No more annoying process to add MobileTerminal to your iPhone. An iOS 5-compatible version of the popular terminal tool has been added to Cydia. MobileTerminal is an iPhone version of the Mac OS Terminal utility that allows you to change your root password, or SSH your device. Installing MobileTerminal to your iPhone originally required a long process, but now it is one easy tap away.

MobileTerminal makes it possible to run utilities such as OpenSSH right from your iPhone, and it allows you to run system administration tasks from anywhere. It's a great and necessary tool for jailbroken iPhones.
