Barrel Home Screen Special Effects Optimized for iOS 7

Looking for a fun tweak to customize your jailbroken iOS 7 device? Developer Aaron Ash has put more hard work into his tweak, Barrel to get it working flawlessly on iOS 7. Once installed from Cydia, Barrel provides a list of transitions to choose from under Settings -> Barrel.

Switching between different home screens has never been so interesting. The latest version of Barrel (1.7.0.3-1) brings fixes to iOS 6 devices and updates the Settings to use the entire screen on larger iOS devices. Minor cosmetic flaws noticeable on iOS 7 have also been fixed.

Add Respring and Reboot Sliders to the iPhone

One thing that hasn't changed much in iOS 7 is powering down the iPhone. Holding the sleep/wake button reveals a red slider with the text "slide to power off". Swiping from left to right will power down the device. Now thanks to developer HASHBANG Productions, additional sliders can be added to the power off display.

New sliders added by the free tweak RePower consist of a yellow "slide to reboot" slider and green "slide to respring". The options are especially useful for jailbreakers, since there are times when tweak settings require a respring, but not a full reboot. RePower also features some settings to customize its behavior.

Jailbreak Tweak of the Week: Controllers for All

Instead of our normal App of the Week, I would like to highlight the jailbreak tweak Controllers for All. This is one of the most innovative iOS 7 tweaks released to Cydia since evasi0n7 was released. It is also in the running to be one of the best jailbreak tools of the year.

Controllers for All

Currently the cheapest iOS 7 controller on the market is the SteelSeries Stratus Wireless for $79.99. Most of the other MFi (Made for iOS) controllers on the market, like the Logitech PowerShell, are retailing for around $100. That's a lot of money for an accessory to play a $3 game. This is why Controllers for All is one of the most useful tweaks out there. It allows anyone with a jailbroken device to add iOS 7 support to an old PlayStation 3 controller.

BrowserChooser Updated with iOS 7 Support

Ryan Petrich's jailbreak tweak BrowserChooser has been updated to support iOS 7. The tweak allows users to make Google Chrome, Opera Mini, iCab Mobile, Dolphin Browser or Atomic Browser their default browser instead of Safari. This tweak is even better when paired with the jailbreak tweak Nitrous.

BrowserChooser

Third-party browsers are not as fast as Safari because Apple restricts access to the Nitro JavaScript engine in iOS. Nitrous unlocks the faster JIT compiler making other applications like Chrome, Facebook and Twitter 4-to-5x faster.

Customize Your App Switcher with 'SlideForUsage' and other Tweaks

The new iOS 7 App Switcher leaves a lot of room for improvement and there are several tweaks out there that let you customize it a bit. SlideForUsage gives you information on each app's usage, while SwipeDown lets you close apps by, you guessed it, swiping down. If you prefer the iOS 6 App Switcher, you can download ClassicSwitcher.

Jailbreak tweak SlideForUsage

You can download SlideForUsage for free from Cydia's modmyi repository. Once you have it installed you can go to Settings->SlideForUsage. Your only option is to change the color of the text that the information is displayed with. With this tweak installed you can now go to the App Switcher and slide an app preview card down to
